Salve, sono nuovo su questo forum e vorrei un aiutino a installare postgresql 8.0.3 che c\'e sul numero di settembre della rivista.

Io ho salvato su hard lo zip, l\'ho scompattato e ho cercato di avviare l\'installazione con il file postgresql-8.0.msi. Subito si ferma e mi dice: \"failed to create process:2 !\". Io ho win98 SE sul mio pc.

Con google ho anche trovato un tipo che con il commando dos msiexec/i postgresql-8.0.msi /l* install.log tira fuori un log per capire di piu (anche lui armeggiava con postgresql a marzo 2005 http://pgfoundry.org/pipermail/pginstaller-devel/2005-March/000538.html ). Anch\'io ho fatto il log ma non so qual\'e il vero problema.La finestra di dialogo(scelta lingua) va in crash perche hai dei controlli posizionati male o cosa? Scrivo sotto il log:

Sul sito della postgresql ci sono delle FAQ che recitano:

\"1.3) What about Windows 95/98/ME?
PostgreSQL requires functionality that is not available on these platforms and will not run on them. If you need to run PostgreSQL on these platforms, you can look at the Cygwin port, which has basic support for 9x platforms.\"

Ora io ho cygwin sul pc, non so se con il package per database. Devo leggere un po\' e capire meglio che cygwin ho. L\'installazione per win98 \'e rimasta lo stesso abbastanza complicata (:

Piuttosto che faticare con windows 98, fai una cosa molto semplice.
Installa linux al posto di windows 98 e sopra questo (linux) la versione di Postgresql per linux.
Non sarà una scheggia ma sono convinto che funzionerà egregiamente.
